Hi

I am new to linkbuilding and I have read that you can use social bookmarking sites - I can see that I can create a profile page and I can add my site there but can I add other sites or is only one allowed?

Also if I have the site listed in my profile is there anything to stop me bookmarking pages from my own site? Would that do any good as far as the search engines are concerned? The links on the pages would obviously be internal links. Have the links got to be from other sites to be counted by Google etc?

If I submit my site to a directory could I submit the directory page with the link on to the social bookmarking site - is there a downside to doing any of this?

As I say I am a newbie trying to find my feet - any advice would be appreciated.

Manually submitting to social bookmarking websites is going to take you absolutely ages, if you are serious about heavily link building using social bookmarking then I would either buy a bit of software or use a service to do it for you. Forget doing it manually, it's a waste of time.

What you want is as many backlinks from different sources, their is no point having 1000 links from one website / IP, when you can have one link on 1000 different sites. It holds more value getting links from different sites, that's why its better to have a bit of software that can automatically do this for you.

If you buy software like "Bookmarking Demon" or "Sick Submitter" then you are also going to need to setup a decaptcha account and purchase credits to solve the decaptchas, you do not want to be sat all day typing in captcha codes!!!

Or use a service that will do it for you, there is a banner above that offers 1,000 bookmarks for only $20 ... find something like this, or look on Fiverr.com for a similar service.

Directories will only accept links to the root of your domain, so don't go wasting your time submitting profiles, they will simply get deleted.

This is good advice especially the second paragraph. The more diverse your links are (number of linking root domains) the better your online relevance.
